Electric heating and cooling solutions for industry

Engineering solutions

One-off or mass production

Although Vulcanic has a rich catalog of product references, we are fully capable of customizing products to meet industry needs. As we operate in all sectors, we have already dealt with many types of request, thus guaranteeing our experience in this field.

Our engineering projects division is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electric process heating and temperature control solutions, to meet the requirements of customer specifications and international standards. Our vast experience covers many sectors and extreme environments, both on site and offshore.

Project realization

1- Defining the need

The approach is similar to Base Business, but the responsibilities are higher (benefits, production costs, design time, customer involvement, etc.).

The time it takes to make an offer can range from several days to several weeks, but the time it takes to place an order can be months or years.

Process

Receipt of customer requirements

  • We receive a call for tenders from a customer or an e-mail request from a customer
  • We contact the customer to gain a better understanding
  • Start designing a solution that suits your needs

A. Solution design

  • Technical calculations
  • Product sizing
  • Estimate prices based on production costs, lead times and competition

B. Follow-up on the customer's decision

  • In order to help customers make the right choices, you need to be a reference and have a notion of expertise in several sectors (economics, technical, marketing, popularization, etc.).
  • Accompany customers throughout the decision-making process (explain information to customers, advise them, guide them if they are unsure of their needs, etc.).
  • Efficient technical support

C. Economic evaluation

  • After agreeing product specifications with the customer, the next step is to calculate prices:
  • Make an economic study of components
  • Call suppliers for quotes
  • Establish a time estimate for obtaining the various components
  • Take into account margin and purchasing negotiation rules

D. Carry out administrative checks

  • Have the file validated by management
  • Legal validation of the file

E. Validate Data Sheet

  • Produce a specification document containing product capabilities and parameters
  • Have the document validated by the customer
  • Send document to design office for product design

definition of requirements

2- Design

The design of a Vulcanic product begins with the receipt of a Data Sheet, a document containing the product specifications.

  1. Study: the data sheet is read and studied to design the various schematics.
  2. Mechanical diagram: the Heater diagram that will accompany the cabinet is completed (need details)
  3. Electrical diagram: The electrical diagram is set up, along with the bill of materials (a list of items to be purchased or manufactured that make up the product. The list is usually automatically generated from the schematic). The electrical diagram will also be used to produce manufacturing drawings, since it basically represents the cabinet itself (which will therefore have to be designed).
  4. Data sheet update: If there are any problems during schematic design, the design office will contact the referent or the customer directly. The customer can also add modifications during this time.
  5. Validation and launch of construction: when the customer validates the schematics and the new data sheet, product design is launched. Part of the BOM goes to manufacturing, part to purchasing (Stocks if components are present, Orders if not).

3- Production launch

Once the design office has finalized the plans, production can begin.

  1. Acceptance of drawings, hydraulic and electrical diagrams
  2. Laser cutting
    • Programming laser cutting on Tutops Boost
    • Placing sheet metal in the cutter
    • Launch cutting program
    • Recover cut sheet metal and check cutting
  3. Folding
  4. Paint: Depending on the customer's requirements, the paint requested may be different (grey, black, etc.) or may have special properties (thermal blanketing, etc.).
  5. Welding: Welding of components other than the housing: tubes, heating ducts, metal pipes, etc.
  6. Assembly: The fitter receives the hydraulic and electrical diagrams.

4- Management and follow-up

During the cabinet design phase, the customer may, for various reasons, add or modify cabinet components. The design office will therefore update the drawings to meet the customer's requirements. Depending on its responsiveness and the updates requested, an update of the invoice may be requested. During this phase, depending on the availability of components or customer updates, product lead times may vary.

  1. Parameterization: Depending on the specifications requested by the customer (remote control, precise temperature control, etc.), a list of parameters and functionalities will be added to the product. In special cases, it may be necessary for the engineering department to design the functionality in raw form. They then program the new functions to be added.
  2. Testing phase: once the product has been produced, it will be tested by the manufacturers. The design office will then inject the code into the product to test its functionality.
  3. Designing the user manual: once the product is in order and has passed the testing phase, a user manual will be designed for delivery to the customer along with the product. The manual is generally based on a basic model linked to the device being built, and is then adapted to the customer's specific requirements.
  4. Product finalization : The manufacturer's file is set up, and a final verification phase is started. The manufacturer's file is placed in a key delivered with the product, in addition to the user manual.

Details :

Screw plug immersion heater are designed to heat liquids (water, oil, heavy fuel oil, glycol, etc.) or gases (air, nitrogen, CO2, etc.) statically in a tank or container, or by forced convection in a circulating fluid heater. They consist of a compact bundle of tubular heating elements, usually pin-shaped, available in various materials compatible with the fluids to be heated. The sealed shielding of the heating elements provides mechanical protection and protection against corrosion.
