Missions

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies for the global product categories assigned to him or her. In this role, he or she is responsible for selecting suppliers, conducting commercial negotiations, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and continuity of supply.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Category Management, this position plays a key role in the operational implementation of global procurement strategies. It also contributes to the development of these strategies through market analysis, supplier engagement, and collaboration with various functions within the company.

The key performance indicators (KPIs) for this position are:

  • Savings achieved and costs avoided (in value and as a percentage) for the categories assigned;
  • The on-time delivery (OTD) rate and supplier quality performance;
  • The contractual coverage rate and compliance with contracts;
  • Supply continuity and the time required to resolve issues;
  • Contributing to the improvement of working capital requirements (inventory, payment terms).

Main Responsibilities

Category Management and Sourcing Strategy Implementation

  • Oversee the implementation of the procurement strategy for the assigned direct raw material categories on a global scale.
  • Lead the entire sourcing process: drafting requests for proposals (RFx), evaluating suppliers, negotiating, and finalizing contracts.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and value engineering.
  • Help define and improve overall category strategies in collaboration with the purchasing department.

Supplier Management and Performance

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with suppliers, including monitoring their performance and resolving issues.
  • Implement supplier scorecards and participate in periodic performance reviews.
  • Lead efforts to improve supplier quality, delivery times, and service levels.
  • Help identify supplier risks and develop risk mitigation plans.

Market Monitoring and Cost Management

  • Monitor commodity markets, cost factors, and sourcing trends for the relevant categories.
  • Develop projected cost models (“should-cost models”) and support evidence-based negotiations.
  • Provide regular analyses of pricing trends, risks, and market opportunities.

Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work in partnership with the Engineering and Design teams on technical specifications, value engineering, and supplier qualification.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Planning and Operations teams to ensure the continuity of supplies and meet production needs.
  • Work closely with local procurement teams to ensure the effective execution of supplier contracts and the prompt resolution of issues.

Contract Management and Compliance

  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, ensuring they comply with the company’s general terms and conditions and risk management requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s procurement policies, procedures, and responsible procurement requirements.
  • Maintain reliable and up-to-date procurement and contract data in procurement management systems.

Continuous Improvement and Procurement Excellence

  • Contribute to the standardization of procurement processes, tools, and reporting.
  • Participate in procurement transformation initiatives, including streamlining the supplier base and improving processes.
  • Support the rollout of digital procurement tools and promote data-driven decision-making.

Profile required

Training

  • A master's degree (Bac+5) in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI, and project management tools
  • Experience with ERP systems and e-sourcing platforms (JDE, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • APICS or ISM certifications are preferred (CPIM, CPM, CIRM).

Experience

 

  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, or category management, ideally in the procurement of direct raw materials.
  • Experience in an international industrial setting.

Technical skills

  • Excellent skills in negotiation, analysis, and stakeholder management.
  • Experience in purchasing metals or electrical components.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and the ability to influence others without a direct reporting relationship within a matrix-style, international organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executives.
  • Experience with ERP systems and e-sourcing platforms (JDE, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, Ariba, Coupa, etc.).
